Mehmet Muş, Minister of Commerce of the Republic of Turkey, announced the new roadmap in exports to the World. The government of Turkey is working on “serious” extension of supports to increase non-physical exports.
On a recent public announcement, Republic of Turkey Trade Minister Mehmet Muş said that they will focus on service exports in order to carry the total export target, which is expected to exceed 210 billion dollars this year, to further the exports in the fortchoming periods. Stating that they will make the Turquality program more effective and that they will create a separate Turquality program for software and game exports, Minister Muş said that they are working on a distant country strategy and that they will increase the range of exporters to over 2 thousand 500 km.
Concerning the European Green Deal, “We neither want to stand out too much nor do we want to lag behind. We want to take the process together with the EU,” said Muş, noting that they have started work on this issue, including the private sector. Muş stated that negotiations are continuing to resolve the issue regarding the transition documents regarding the Green Deal.
Minister Muş said: “It is obvious that there is an exponential increase in Turkey’s exports. This shows that the Turkish exports have come to a certain place in the international market both in terms of competition and quality. Due to the problems experienced in the global supply chain, Turkey has emerged as a good supplier. Our country has the ability to ship its products to the markets in a short time due to its geographical advantage and strategic location. Therefore, our capacity utilization rates in the industry are very high at the moment, and there are also additional investments. How do I know this? Because exporter unions are coming to us, sectors are coming to us and they are telling about their investments. These additional investments will also be reflected in Turkey’s exports in the coming period. We aim to reach a serious figure in the whole of 2021.”
“We think that if there is no closure in the remaining 4 months of 2021, if there will be no problems with demand and, if there is no extraordinary situation, we will easily reach the 210 billion USD figure expressed by our President. We will try to build on this in 2022. Now we have important issues that we are working on with our friends. We are overhauling the Turquality program, because that program has made significant contributions to our exporters since its inception, now we are making it more effective and stronger. Secondly, we are working on the strategy of distant countries. The average range of Turkey’s exports is 2 thousand 500 km. Vietnam is 8 thousand km. our exporters like closer markets more. But if we want to increase this export above a certain figure, we have to go to distant markets, we will. As the Ministry, we are working on this strategy, it has come to a certain point, we share it with our stakeholders, relevant chambers and exporter associations and turn it into a document. We’ll bring it and move on. “
