The amount of the monthly minimum wage in Turkey to be applied in the year 2023, which directly concerns more than 7 million employees and indirectly all citizens, has been announced.
Accordingly, the national monthly minimum wage, which will be valid in 2023, has been announced as net 8 thousand 506 Liras and as gross 10 thousand 8 Liras. Accordingly, there was an increase of 54.66 percent in the minimum wage compared to July 2022 and 100 percent compared to the beginning of 2022.
With the increase in the minimum wage, many social assistance, payment elements and policy indicators are also updated. Accordingly, the current amounts to be applied in 2023 will be as follows:
- In 2023, the lowest unemployment income will be 4 thousand 3 Liras and the highest will be 8 thousand 6 liras.
- In maternity service borrowing for retirement, the amount of 720-day borrowing for a child will be 76 thousand 861 TL. It will be 153 thousand 723 TL for 2 children.
- For military service borrowing for retirement, the 12-month amount will be 38 thousand 430 TL, and the 18-month debt amount will be 57 thousand 646 TL.
- With the current minimum wage, the severance pay of the minimum wage will be 10,008 lira. The severance pay of the employee who has been working at the same workplace for 5 years with minimum wage is currently calculated as 32 thousand 355 liras. As of the new year, he will receive 50 thousand 40 TL severance pay.
- The 65-year-old old-age pension will be recalculated with the new minimum wage amount. The 65-year-old pension, which is currently 1,684 TL, will increase to 2,604 TL in the new year.
- The disability pension will also increase with the new minimum wage. Disabled pension (for the disabled with a disability percentage of 40 to 69) which is 1.124 TL now, and will increase to 1.738 TL in the new year.
- The amount of disability pension paid for the disabled at a rate of 70 percent or more will increase from 1,687 TL to 2 thousand 609 TL.
- The internship fee paid to high school and university students who go to businesses for internship will also increase with the new minimum wage. Interns are paid not less than 30 percent of the net minimum wage. Intern salaries will be at least 2 thousand 552 TL in the new year.
- General Health Insurance premiums will also increase with the increase in the minimum wage. Social Security Institution has applied the General Health Insurance (GSS) premium as 195 lira per month in 2022, this figure will increase to 300 Liras in 2023.
- There is an upper and lower limit for the premium amount in optional insurance. Accordingly, in 2023, the lowest premium amount will be 3 thousand 202 Liras and the highest premium will be 24 thousand 19 Liras.
- With the change in the minimum wage, the base and ceiling amount of earnings subject to premium, which is the basis for the calculation of premiums paid to the Social Security Institution for employees, will also change. Accordingly, while the base for the premium will be 10 thousand 8 liras, the upper limit will be 75 thousand 60 liras.
