Minimum Wage Support is Provided for Employers in Turkey

The minimum wage support that was applied in Turkey during the calendar years of 2016, 2017, January 2018 to September 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 will continue to be implemented in the period between July 2022 and December 2022.

According to the text of the Act No. 7417 adopted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the minimum wage support will be applied with the following rules:

1) For workplaces registered before the year 2022 for the employee’s whom have daily earnings subject to premium is TRL 179 or less, for workplaces belonging to private sector employers with collective bargaining agreements for the employee’s whom have daily earnings subject to premium is TRL 358 or less, for workplaces where lignite and hard coal are extracted for the employee’s whom have daily earnings subject to social premium TRL 477 TL or less, minimum wage support will be provided. The support will be provided for the number of working days of all insured subject to all insurance branches and a minimum wage support will be provided between the July and December 2022, equal to the amount to be found by multiplying by 3.33 TL per day.

2) The number of insured persons subject to long-term insurance branches in the month of the calendar year of 2022, during which minimum wage support will be provided, must not fall below the lowest number of insured persons reported in the months 2021/January to 2021/December. For the workplaces registered before 2022, no support will be given for the months in 2022 where the insured is declared below the minimum number of insured persons.

 

3) Minimum wage support will be applied in the period between July 2022 to December 2022.

4) If it is determined that a deficient earnings basis for premium is reported in the relevant month, which does not exceed one tenth of the monthly gross minimum wage (647.1 TL) of 2022, the minimum wage support application will continue for the workplaces that make up for the said deficiency within a fifteen-day period, upon the notice to be made by the Social Security Institution.

5) The discount amount to be provided with the minimum wage support will be deducted from the insurance premium debts arising from the following month/months.
